INDEPENDENT ENERGY SUPPLY Since 2012 February 7th , when new edition of the Law on Electricity of the Republic of Lithuania (Official Gazette 2000, No. 66-1984, 2012, No. 17-752) came in to effect, activities of independent suppliers are considered to be regulated by permissions, instead of being licensed activity. Legal person or an individual, which is engaged in any commercial activity, in territory of the Lithuania or any other European union member state, have a right to be engaged in independent energy supply activities, without advance permission from National control commission for prices and energy (later – Commission). About intention to be engaged in independent energy supply activity, person has to notify Commission in advance, in accordance with terms defined in Rules for permits issuing in electricity sector. Person, who submitted requested notification for Commission, acquires rights and duties of independent supplier, defined by laws and legislations, and can start an independent electricity energy supply activities. The beginning of independent supply activity is considered, the day when an appropriate notification is submitted to Commission. If a person requests, Commission can provide written confirmation about, particular person’s engagement in independent electricity energy supply activity. Written confirmation is provided after person pays a charge, indicated in the Government rules.

LICENSING
REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSE ISSUING Requirements for companies seeking to get a certain license are defined in the Licencing rules for activities in electricity sector issued on 2012 June 20th, by Government of Republic of Lithuania. Person wishing to get, change, specify, issue a duplicate, stop or cancel certain license must submit Commission with following application and follow other requirements defined in the Licencing rules for activities in electricity sector issued on 2012 June 20th, by Government of Republic of Lithuania. Charges for these services are indicated in the Government rules.
